Happy
I have got:

Winter sunshine;

A comfy chair in the corner of my lovely study;

A pot of cthulhu jasmine tea, and a tea bowl made by Jon Singer to fit my hand;

The last maple-walnut brownie;

and...

An ARC of Regenesis.

I was going to re-read all the Alliance-Union books before I got it, but as I have it now I've decided to read it now, and re-read all the other Alliance-Union books afterwards, and then read it again.

We're out of maple-walnut brownies already ?

"Happy" is not the first word to come to my mind in this circumstance.

Shh... don't disturb her.

If she stays happy, she will make you some more maple-walnut brownies.

Thanks for heads up on Regenesis. I didn't even realise it was due. Have just ordered my copy and since I won't get it until early January I can start re-reading the rest of the series.

Enjoy!

Myself, I gave up on Cherryh one book into the Faded Sun series, after really loving Hunter of Worlds. I believe I read half of Downbelow Station, too, and date my having doubts about the Hugo awards to that year; to me the first half of that book was totally and utterly boring, totally content-free. There's something about the way she arranges words in a row, I think, and then also something about what she considers to constitute a plot.

But I'm always pleased to see people who *do* like her books; she's a nice lady, and it's good to know that her reputation is based on people who actually like her books for sensible reasons, even if they don't work for me.

Though http://flickr.com/photos/beamjockey/199017206/ helps a little.

It starts off looking like this and ends up looking like this or maybe this.

I'm surprised you found that photo.

(It was taken with a mediocre cellphone camera, the only one I brought to the tea party.)

The tea tasted good. It didn't fill me with nameless dread, or anything.

Tease! Lovely to know it is coming, though.

And I can't complain yet, I came to Cherryh so late that I'm still working my way through the good stuff as I obtain it. I only read Cyteen for the first time 2 months ago.

I have spent the last twenty years wondering all the time what was happening at Reseune, with odd days off when I was obsessed with whatever I was writing at the time.

It seems so strange to have new news from Cyteen.
