Friday morning
If you sign up to the new Tor cool blogoid thingy this week, you get a free e-copy of Farthing. I just got sent a link to it, which seems oddly recursive. I don't have my secret decoder ring yet, though.

Also, a hilarious brief review from someone who downloaded it "Very nicely done, surprisingly enjoyable given that it's the kind of heavily political writing I usually thoroughly despise. The characters leap out and bite you." Actually, I must admit that not even the e-version is quite that interactive!

We have two tickets to see Leonard Cohen. I had to stand in line for a bit more than an hour in a long line snaking through Place des Arts, and getting up early didn't help because they went on sale at noon. But actually I had an interesting conversation with the person who joined the line just after me, so the time passed quite pleasantly.

About half-an-hour after Cohen tickets went on sale this morning at 9 am here, online and on phone, I remembered, in time to buy mediocre tickets, the best available. I checked back an hour ago - the venue was nearly sold out.

If he really wants characters to leap out and bite him - or at least take grave exception to his manners - he ought to be reading Tooth and Claw...

I think you should use "The characters leap out and bite you" as a blurb for future editions. (I know it doesn't actually work that way...)

I downloaded it the instant I got the email (still hoping to get it in paperback if I can only find it here, curse being in the Antipodes), and discovered the first chapter of Ha'penny, and have just found that my local library has a copy of that in library. Excuse me, I have to go somewhere Right Now.

I signed up a day or two ago, and finally received an ack, but no link yet, unless it is buried deep.

My newsletter came yesterday and the link is a bit down the page, after the new website stuff. I didn't download -- I have a paper copy.

O, I started reading Farthing in the ebook last night, and it has moved my PhD date back by a bit, because I cannot stop reading it and I will be buying it and Ha'penny, and the third, and it was a good idea to release the ebook, and thank you for writing so well!
