Description of [info]elisem's attic.
There's piles of beads and on display
Beadwork to take your breath away.
In jumbled piles and muddled heaps:
A broken sword, some pumpkin Peeps,
Some barbie-wings, a Tiger Moth,
Some scented soap, and lots of cloth,
Tyrannosaurs, and rabbit paws,
The relics of forgotten wars,
A space-ship drive that's cracked in half,
A pile of books, a wizard's staff,
A time machine no one can fix,
Two silver forks, some lego bricks,
A summer hat, a broken pail,
Some three inch discs, the holy grail,
A singing bowl, a breakfast plate...
Please don't think I exaggerate.

Given that [info]elisem is such a delightful person, I am unsurprised that her attic sounds equally wonderful.

That is very cute! I read it out loud and was reminded of Dr. Seuss.

Oh! *claps hands* You got the singing bowl in there! Thank you.

That is very nice of you. I hope it's OK if I link to it; now I want to send everybody over here.

(Once when Lois Bujold was over, she came up to the attic for something, got about three steps in, stopped, and said, "It really is the attics of Vorkosigan House." I told her we were vastly complimented.)

I certainly don't mind. I hoped it might be cheering. I started doing it to entertain the parakeet...

Lots of those things are really there.

I have travelled great distances, traversed the entire block even, just to visit Elise's attic. What a wonderful description! And quite accurate!!

Excellent. Sounds like a great place for what I call "archaeology in my own apartment"...

Oddly, you've just described both my ideal, absolutely perfect attic, and the current state of my living room -- aka the staging area for the consolidation of Fred's and my belongings prior to the wedding.

It's amazing how, what sounds like a devine description for an attic, is decidely less attractive when it's applied to a space whose contents need to be cleared out. ;-)

I wish we all had attics like that...

Exaggerate?

Not a bit of it. It's just as I observed it (I may have missed the Peeps, but I was distracted by the shinies).

The first time I was there, the pumpkin Peeps were there in a pile. I'd forgotten about this poem, and reading it now, I'm surprised how accurate it is!

This is wonderful. (Elise just pointed me to it in a recent post at her LJ.)
